Due to severe weather expected to hit Americus and Sumter County on Wednesday and Thursday, the Sumter County School District will be closed Wednesday, October 10, by 1:30 p.m. However, release times will be staggered in order to get everyone out of the buildings by 1:30 p.m. The district will remain closed throughout Thursday, October 11.

All schools are closed Friday, October 12, for Fall Break and will reopen on Monday, October 15.

The following is a list of release times for Wednesday, October 10:

SCPS – 12 p.m.

SCES – 12 p.m.

SCIS – 12:15 p.m.

SMCS – 12:45 p.m.

ASHNGA – 1 p.m.

ASHS – 1:15 p.m.

Furlow Charter School – 1:15 p.m.
