Airman 1st Class Alan Maples graduates from basic training

SAN ANTONIO — U.S. Air Force Airman Alan Maples Jr. graduated from basic military training Aug. 17 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Maples graduated as an E-3 Airman First Class and will now head to Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas, for four months where he will receive his skills training in aerospace propulsion. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Maples graduated high school from Southland Academy in Americus in 2012, and received his two-year degree from Darton State College in 2014. He is the son of Alan Maples Sr. and Tina Davis Maples of Leesburg, and grandson of Kenneth Maples, Janice Tolbert Maples, Maynard R. Davis, and Mary Dockery Davis of Albany.
