First Friday themed ‘Fire & Ice’

AMERICUS — On Friday, Dec. 7, Americus will hold its monthly “First Friday” downtown-wide open house. The theme for this month’s First Friday is “Fire & Ice!” Downtown merchants will offer discounts, samples, giveaways, and more! Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with most shops and businesses staying open until 8 p.m. “First Friday After Dark” continues the festivities into the night after 8 p.m.
Everyone is invited to come experience the city’s art, music, food, wares and crafts. The Americus Street Trolley will provide attendees transportation during the event. The trolley will make a loop of the event and is provided by Americus Main Street, free of charge. All activities, exhibits and performances are free of charge. The Historic Rylander Theatre will host the opening night of Sumter Players’ production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Tickets are on sale now! Mobile Glassblowing Studios will have glass blowing demonstrations and will be blowing hot glass into ice throughout the evening! The Huss Foundation will host a Holiday Art Gift Sale and have free beer and hot dogs. Center Stage Market will be showcasing Georgia Grown products that will be perfect for Christmas presents or a gift for yourself. First Presbyterian Church will host the inaugural First Friday Kids Zone sponsored by Furlow Charter School. Kids will have the opportunity to enjoy coloring contests, sporting activities, door prizes, and more!
Attendees can also take advantage of great shopping deals downtown on Friday night. Allie’s Boutique & More, 2LC Bakery, Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio, The Kinnebrew Company, The Maze, Mane Street Salon, and the Americus Visitor Center will all be open late offering discounts, samples, food tastings, and more! As we are getting into the Christmas spirit, Americus Main Street will have chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
Eat, drink, and listen to live music Friday night in Downtown Americus! Purchase a “Cocktail Caddy” from Americus Main Street beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday to participate in First Friday Happy Hour.
This event is organized by Americus Main Street and the City of Americus. One of the goals of our organization is to cultivate downtown Americus’ economic and cultural enrichment by providing a platform for entertainment and social engagement to the general public on a regular basis.
