MACON — The Georgia School Nutrition Association (GSNA) recognized M. Elizabeth Alston, publisher and editor of the Americus Times Recorder, with a GSNA 2018 Media Award Recognition Certificate.
GSNA established the annual Media Award program over 23 years ago, to recognize the wonderful support given to school nutrition programs by local media outlets. Those outlets include social media, print, radio and television media sources, school system public relations staff, and others.
“We appreciate the cooperation of all our media partners in helping us promote school lunch all year long. Without them, we couldn’t tell our story of how children are learning healthy eating habits by eating school lunch and breakfast, or how schools are offering healthy choices, with fresh fruits, reduced sodium, and whole grain breads,” said a GSNA representative. “Our media award applicants are nominated from around the state, by the local and district school nutrition association staff. Elizabeth was nominated by Larry Jackson, president of the Sumter County School Nutrition Association. We truly appreciate the outstanding support given to the local school nutrition programs and the tireless effort our media partners have done to help us in “Building Healthy Children, Ready to Learn.”
Media Award recipients were presented recognition certificates at the GSNA National School Lunch Week Kickoff Luncheon in Macon.
