Sonny Pinckard: Harvest of Hope Food Pantry still needs your support in 2019

As 2018 has come to an end, we look back on a successful year in the ministry of Harvest of Hope Food Pantry. We closed out 2018 with our December distribution: a two-day distribution on Dec. 19 and 20. We distributed food to approximately 730 families. I can only say “thanks” to the many volunteers: some who worked half a day, some who worked one full day, and some who worked all day both days. There were also many of these same volunteers and others who worked on the Dec. 6 packing the special “Christmas goody bags” and Dec. 18 packing all the many bags of groceries that were distributed on Dec. 19 and 20. If it were not for so many dedicated volunteers, we could not have completed the distribution. It was truly inspiring to watch young and old work together in harmony to get the job done. I am very proud of the way so many people worked together.
Also, as 2018 has come to a close, I want to thank those individuals, churches, organizations, and others whose financial support of Harvest of Hope Food Pantry contributed to the success of this ministry. I wish to thank Food Lion and Harvey’s who also contributed to the success of 2018. What we accomplished in 2018 would not have been possible without you. I wish I could thank each one of you personally. I know who provides most of the food donations; however, I do not know who provides the financial donations. All financial records are kept by the board of directors. It is not my place to know who donates financially to Harvest of Hope Food Pantry. It is my job to lead the ministry that you have entrusted to the board. But I want to thank each of you and remind you that because of you, we have provided food to people of all ages.
It is my hope that you will continue to support the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry in 2019, as you have in 2018. However, we do not only hope you will continue your financial support in 2019, but we hope you will pray for Harvest of Hope Food Pantry. This ministry needs to be undergirded with your prayers. Remember, Harvest of Hope Food Pantry is your ministry. You are welcome to drop in on a Tuesday and see what we are doing in your name. If you haven’t seen the ministry in action, I think you will be surprised and happy at what you see. I think you will be excited that you have been a part of this ministry through your support in the past and will desire to continue your support in 2019.
God bless you in 2019.
