Phoebe Sumter welcomes first baby of 2019

AMERICUS — The first baby born in 2019, in Sumter County, arrived on the early morning hours of Jan. 1 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
Southern joy Barfield was born at 1:08 a.m. to Kyle and Tiffany Barfield of Americus. The infant weighed six pounds and was 19 inches long at birth. She has four sisters, Emma, 10; Kennedy, 5; Lillie Mae, 3, and Kylee, 1.
As the first baby born in 2019 in Sumter County, the baby will receive a plaque and gifts from Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
