(Feb. 1-7, 2019)

• Firefighters responded to 35 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Hosanna Circle. The smoke detector was activated by someone cooking.
• Firefighters responded to South Hampton Street to a report of a gas odor inside the residence. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident in East Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Rigas Road. The driver advised he had parked near the lake and the vehicle slid into the lake. There were no injuries. A wrecker pulled the vehicle out of the water.
• Firefighters responded to Lonnie Lane to a brush fire report. They found that someone had been burning yard debris prior to their arrival. They rake around it to make sure it would not reignite.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Southerfield Road. It was a malfunctioning smoke detector.
• Firefighters responded to a building fire on Horton Drive which is under investigation.
• Firefighters responded to traffic accident on Crawford Street.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Lonnie Lane, as did Sumter County Fire & Rescue. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Bumphead Road. It was a false alarm at a school caused by an intentional pull by a student.
• Firefighters responded to Georgia Southwestern State University Drive to a report of a traffic accident. No incident was found.
• Firefighters responded to Lorraine Avenue to a report of a man down in the roadway. Nothing was found but a police officer on scene said the person thought to be injured was working on his plumbing.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It was a false alarm.
• Firefighters responded to the Americus-Times Recorder office on Ga. Highway 27 East to a report of a strong gas odor in the area. No hazards were found.
