AMERICUS — The Americus city council, in a called meeting Friday, hired Charles L. Coney as city manager.
The motion to hire Coney was made by Council member Juanita Wilson, and seconded by Council member Nelson Brown. Voting for the motion were Wilson, Brown, and council members Daryl Dowdell and Kelvin Pless. Voting against the motion were council members Lou Chase and Charles Christmas.
