LESLIE — If spring is in the air, it must be time for the fun annual event in Leslie.
The Town and Country Garden Club of Leslie hosts the 31st annual Dogwood Antique Show & Sale March 15-17 at the Leslie Civic Center. The venue is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday. Organizers say the dogwoods in Leslie are in full bloom so the town is ready to show off their local charm and hospitality. The funds raised from this event help to support local and state beautification projects and activities for the community.
Antique Show chair, Jolie Ledger, is making the 31st annual show extra special, bringing in dealers from all over Georgia and Florida. Some of the local dealers to be represented are W. Malcolm Perry Antiques, owners Malcolm and Anne Perry; The Silver Source, owners Malcolm and Phyllis Argo; and The Mule’s Tale-Antiques, Gifts and Auction owned by Mike Messner. Returning dealers are Angevine’s Fine Silver, Gracie’s Antiques, Past Treasures, Memories, Enterprising Collectibles and LaRoque. The vendors will have items for sale such as jewelry, glassware, silver, linens, furniture, plants, and other collectibles.
And after visitors have shopped the show and sale, they can relax for a delicious lunch or snack in the Tea Room, known far and wide for its scrumptious homemade offerings. Many folks come to the Tea Room after church on Sunday, and enjoy the show and sale afterward. Angie Kaylor and the tearoom staff are all ready to serve you a scrumptious lunch or a take out to have for supper. Choices include Kay’s Chicken Salad, Thomas Harrell’s Barbecue, soup, pimento cheese and other sandwiches. There is also a wide variety of desserts including caramel, chocolate, coconut, and key lime cakes, along with pecan, coconut, brownie, and peanut butter pies.
Members of the Town and Country Garden Club look forward to greeting you at the show the weekend of March 15-17. Being that the event is held inside, there’s no need to worry about spring showers. Plan to come and enjoy the show and sale, and seeing old friends as well as meeting new ones. The people in Leslie really roll out the welcome mat for this popular springtime event.
