AMERICUS — Green Air Environmental recently presented Phoebe Sumter Medical Center with the 2018 Green Air Hospital Sustainability Award for 100 percent implementation of Green Air’s preventive maintenance air handler and HVAC cleaning program. Phoebe Sumter was also chosen because of the hospital’s many sustainable practices including recycling programs, LED lighting installation, and low water-use fixtures.
“When Phoebe Sumter opened in 2011, we earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification. Since then, we have worked hard to implement and maintain sustainable practices to ensure we provide a comfortable and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors while being good environmental stewards,” said Mike Waldal, Phoebe Sumter Director of Operations.
Green Air is a specialized firm that uses a chemical-free, high-temperature, medium-pressure process to clean air handling units and HVAC systems. The patented process used at Phoebe Sumter greatly improves indoor air quality, air exchanges, and efficiency of the entire HVAC system.
Each year, Green Air awards Hospital Sustainability Awards to two of its more than 100 healthcare clients across the southeast.
