PLAINS — The staff of the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site invites everyone to the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm on Saturday, April 20 for Junior Ranger Day. Join staff for kid-friendly activities from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Aspiring Junior Rangers will have an opportunity to earn their Junior Ranger badge by helping plant the spring garden, working at the blacksmith shop, playing traditional 1930s games, and completing a farm scavenger hunt.
At 2 p.m., the sixth annual Easter Egg Hunt will begin. There will be three age group categories for the hunt: ages 3 and under, ages 4-7, and ages 8-12. Special eggs will contain “golden” certificates for prizes and gift certificates for free peanut butter ice cream.
The SAM Shortline excursion train will be making an afternoon stop at the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm on Saturday just in time for children to join the Easter Egg Hunt. For train information, please visit www.samshortline.com.
The Friends of the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site is a sponsor for the event.
The Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm is located on Old Plains Highway, west of the town of Plains. Please be sure to check for other upcoming events on the park’s Facebook page.
