• Firefighters responded to 16 calls for medical assistance
• Firefighters responded to a natural gas leak on Beale Street. On arrival, they found the city gas department on scene, already shutting off the gas. No other hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to Quality Inn, 1205 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., to assist a “morbidly obese individual” in getting out of the swimming pool.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Rees Park Economic Development Center, 409 Elm Ave. They found a faulty sensor in the smoke alarm. They responded again to the location to a malfunctioning alarm.
• Firefighters responded to East Avenue to an alarm. It was activated by someone leaving a Styrofoam cup on an eye of the stove. They ventilated the structure.
• Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Mary Blount Drive. They found heavy fire in the passenger compartment and extinguished it and impounded the vehicle for further investigation.
• Firefighters responded to Lowe’s, 1700 E. Lamar St., to a vehicle fire in a parking lot.
• Firefighters responded to Daniel Street to a report of a tree down on a power line. The power was off and they removed the tree limb from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Sheffield Street which was activated by someone cooking food.
• Firefighters responded to traffic accidents on South Lee Street, Ashby Street, Railroad Street, and East Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to Rucker to a report of a car fire. It was false call.
