- Kids and parents started lining up early at the Rees Park Economic Development Center in Elm Avenue to receive free school supplies provided by the Americus Police Department and other sponsors.

AMERICUS — The Americus Police Department hosted a Back to School Giveaway for all grade levels from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Rees Park Economic Development Center. Sponsored by the City of Americus, Regional Eye Center, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Sunbelt Ford, CVS Pharmacy, Food Lion, Walmart, Walgreens, South Georgia Technical College, Finnicum Motor Co., Dollar General, After Hours Care, and Kingdom of Heaven Ministries Inc., the event served between 350 and 400.
