AMERICUS – Americus-Sumter guard Jelissa Reese very nearly outscored the entire Cairo High School girls’ basketball team (CHS) as she poured in 41 points to lead the Americus-Sumter Lady Panthers to an 81-47 shellacking of the Syrup Maids in a Region 1-AAAA contest on Tuesday, December 17, at Americus-Sumter High School (ASHS).

The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 25-11 lead in the first quarter and outscored CHS 17-13 in the second quarter to take a 42-24 lead into halftime.

While the third quarter was more evenly matched between the two teams, the Lady Panthers used their full-court pressure in the fourth quarter to create numerous turnovers and fast break baskets.
