AMERICUS – South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) postponed its Spring 2020 graduation due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. The SGTC Spring 2020 graduation was originally scheduled for Thursday, May 7, at 6 p.m. All spring graduates will be invited to participate in a face-to-face graduation ceremony later in the year when restrictions are lifted. However, SGTC will recognize its Spring 2020 graduates with a “virtual” graduation ceremony.
SGTC will be hosting a virtual graduation video that will be available on the website and the college’s social media accounts. The audio portion of graduation will also air one of the local radio stations in town.
Graduates who would like to be recognized in this virtual graduation will need to make sure they have completed their course work, have applied for graduation with the SGTC registrar and will need to send in an appropriate photo with their name and program of study to the SGTC email: sgtc411@southgatech.edu.
The college virtual graduation video will offer words of encouragement from President Dr. John Watford, SGTC 2020 Goal Winner David Bush, Vice President of Academic Affairs David Kuipers, as well as academic deans and faculty and staff. To make this the best it can be, SGTC would like to include photos of its graduates. Each graduate’s photo and name will be called out with their program of study for completion of degree or diploma.
To be included in the virtual ceremony, graduates are asked to submit an appropriate photo with name and program of study to sgtc411@southgatech.edu by Friday, May 1. SGTC reserves the right not to use a photo that is not appropriate for a graduation ceremony.
