Joseph Jolly hired as SGTC Maintenance Technician

AMERICUS – South Georgia Technical College graduate Joseph Jolly, formerly of Nashville, TN, has been hired as a Maintenance Technician on the South Georgia Technical College Americus campus effective immediately, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford.

Jolly completed the Industrial Mechanical Systems Technology program at SGTC in May and then reenrolled and will be graduating from the Industrial Electrical program in December.  He has lived on campus and served as a Resident Assistant for the college.  He has worked full-time at Tamarac in Americus as well as been a member of the SGTC National Technical Honor Society, the Student Government Association and has qualified for the President’s List for outstanding academics nearly every semester.  He is also an SGTC Foundation Scholarship award winner.

“We are pleased when we can hire our graduates,” said Dr. Watford.  “Joseph Jolly is an amazing young man.  He has represented his programs and this college in a very professional and positive manner as a student, and we are expecting that same dependable work ethic as an employee.”

As a maintenance technician, Jolly will install, maintain, or repair electrical systems and associated hardware; install, maintain or repair all HVAC equipment, assist with plumbing hardware repairs and assist with renovation projects as assigned.  He will also assist with carpentry projects, repairing college equipment and grounds maintenance activities in addition to other duties as assigned.

Jolly chose to attend South Georgia Technical College because of its on-campus housing and its hands-on workforce education.  “I really love it here,” said Jolly.  “I have always loved talking things apart to see how they work, so I wanted to do something hands-on.  I am every excited that now I can remain at South Georgia Technical College as an employee.”
