Monden Sets New Career High In 82-53 Blowout of Columbus State

AMERICUS – The Georgia Southwestern State University men’s basketball team earned their 10th win of the season. defeating Columbus State 82-53 on Wednesday night.

Jordan Johnson recorded 19 points and made six of his eight shots. Johnson has scored double-digit points in four consecutive games. Justin Monden recorded a new career high, as he scored 16 points and hit on seven of his 12 shots. He also had a career high three steals. JaKwon Moore was the final Canes player to record a double figure score with 14 points and four rebounds. Moore has turned in double-digit performances in two of his last three games.

The Cougars had the momentum early in the first half and led by as much as four points, but relinquished their lead in the final 10 minutes of the first half when Johnson connected on a three-pointer. The basket took the air out of the Cougars and the Hurricanes went on a scoring frenzy the rest of the game.

GSW has not lost a home game this year so far and with the win, the Hurricanes snapped a three-game losing streak to the Cougars.

GSW (10-3, 2-1 PBC) will be on the road to face off against Peach Belt Conference Newcomer USC Beaufort (8-3, 1-2 PBC) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
