Lady Hurricanes defeat USC Beaufort 86-48

BLUFTON, SC – The Lady Hurricanes dominated Peach Belt Conference Newcomer USC Beaufort 86-48 on Saturday afternoon.

Five Lady Hurricanes scored in double figures. Lexi McCully led the way with 17 points and connected on a season-high seven of 13 shots with four rebounds..

Leianya Massenat had a solid performance, amassing a season-high 16 points while going 4-of-9 from the field with two rebounds and two assists.

Leah Johnson was a force on the court. She scored 13 points and accumulated nine rebounds, three steals and was relentless in the paint blocking three shots.

GSW points leader Jashanti Simmons, who came into the game averaging 12.7 points per game, could not be stopped. Simmons amassed 12 points and went 4-for-6 shooting and brought in six rebounds and recorded two assists. Simmons has scored 10 or more points in seven consecutive games and leads the Lady Hurricanes in that respective category.

The final player to hit double figures, Destiny Garrett, combined for 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting and made all three of her shots from the charity stripe.

GSW took control early in the first quarter and never relinquished their lead on their way to victory.

The Lady Hurricanes (10-2, 3-1 PBC) return home to take on another team from the Palmetto State, USC Aiken (4-10, 0-4 PBC), at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Storm Dome.
