Hurricanes fall to #12 USC Aiken

AMERICUS – The Georgia Southwestern State University men’s basketball team had their two game winning streak snapped, falling to No. 12 USC Aiken, 93-69 Wednesday night at the Storm Dome.

Despite the one-sided affair, four Hurricanes scored in double figures. Jalen Johnson led the team with 18 points and he recorded two rebounds, four assists and three steals. He also hit all six of his shot attempts from the charity stripe. Johnson has reached double-digit points in consecutive games. He leads all GSW players with 11 games scoring in double figures.

Christian Koonce recorded 13 points, hauled in two boards and dished two assists. This was the ninth game of the season that Koonce has scored 10 or more points.

Jaylen Jordon recorded 12 points with four rebounds and two assists. He was another GSW player to connect on all of his free throw attempts. Jordan Johnson accumulated 11 points. He connected on all four of his free throw attempts and collected two rebounds. Jordan Johnson has recorded 10 or more points in six consecutive games.

The final GSW player to amass a double digit figure was Tim Hall Jr. He recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Hall Jr. has collected double digit rebounds in back-to-back games.

USC Aiken (13-2, 4-1 PBC) came in as one the best teams in the country and handed the Hurricanes their first loss in the Storm Dome this season (5-1).

Georgia Southwestern (11-4, 3-2 PBC) will stay home to take on Augusta (8-7, 1-4 PBC) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Storm Dome.
