The 12u Duke girls’ basketball team went on a 10-0 run in the second half and was able to edge out the LSU girls’ team by the score of 38-31 on Friday, June 28, in the Dwight Harris Boys Club (DHBC) basketball league at the Ninth Grade Academy.

Though most of the teams in the league are boys’ teams, there are a few girls’ teams that participate. All of the teams in the league this year are named after college programs.

The Lady Blue Devils jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first half, but LSU responded with a 9-0 run to take a 17-16 lead. Over the next several minutes of the second half, both teams traded baskets, but the Duke team would go on a 10-0 run late in the second half. That run ended up securing a 38-31 victory for the Lady Blue Devils.

Charlie Spann led the Duke team in scoring with 22 points and Zaya Solomon chipped in eight points in the winning cause.

Princess Covington led LSU in scoring with 12 points and Nadia McCuller chipped in 11.
