Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 12 calls for medical assistance.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Pinecrest Drive. There were no hazards.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm on North Dudley Street. No hazards were found.

• Firefighters responded to East Lamar Street where a car had struck a structure.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Mayo and Forsyth streets.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at McGarrah Street and Martin King Jr. Boulevard.

• Firefighters responded to a wildland fire on Ridge Street where they found a small fire in the back yard which had spread to a neighbor’s yard.

• Firefighters responded to South Lee Street and Tommy Hooks Road to a report of a gas leak. No hazards were found.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Parker and Tripp streets.

• Firefighters responded to North Dudley and Plum streets where they found a phone cable on the edge of the street.

• Firefighters responded to a rubbish fire on West Glessner Street to an illegal burn. The fire was out on arrival and the residents, new to the area, were informed of the City’s no-burn policy.

• Firefighters responded to Town Creek Circle to the report of a structure fire. They found a clothes dryer with an unsecured power cord that made contact with the metal housing, causing arcing.

• Clarence Howard, 59, of 677 Holman Road, Leslie is charged with DUI.

• A juvenile was charged with unruliness in Country Club Drive.

• Gerald A. Lewis, 43, of 1846 Mayo St., Americus is charged with peeping tom.

• Amber D. Martin, 23, of 132 W. Robin Hill Road, Americus is charged with disorderly conduct.

• Brendon Mitchell, 25, of 115-B Pecan Terrace, Americus is charged with driving while license is suspended or revoked.

• Cristobal Perez-Lopez, 26, of 538 U.S. Highway 280 East, L-37, Americus is charged with failure to stop at stop sign and driving while unlicensed.

• Waynedasha Stanbury, 22, of Douglasville is charged with disorderly conduct.

• Firefighters responded to a grass fire on U.S. Highway 280 East.

• Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Boo Cosby Road where they found a vacant house in flames. Cause is unknown.

• Firefighters responded to a report of wires down on Loop Road.

• Firefighters responded to a report of a woods fire at Calvary Church and Brady roads where they found a controlled burn.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Roy Circle which was set off by cooking.

• Firefighters responded to a report of a fire on the roadside where they found a controlled burn.

• Firefighters responded to an alarm on U.S. Highway 19 North.

• Firefighters responded to wires down on Old Dawson Road.

• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Foster Street, DeSoto.
