• Firefighters responded to 13 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 411 Cotton Ave., where they found a slight smoke haze but no hazards. They responded to same location about seven hours later to a report of a smoke odor. After investigation, they found that a breaker had tripped in one of the air conditioning units.
• Firefighters responded to East Forsyth Street to a report of a tree down in the roadway. They removed it with a chain saw.
• Firefighters responded to Westside Drive to an alarm. It was activated a burning food.
• Firefighters responded to a report of wires down on Ridge Street. They found a telephone line which they removed from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, 126 U.S. Highway 280 West. While en route, the alarm company confirmed that it was a false alarm.
• Firefighters responded to East Furlow Street to a report of a gas leak. Occupants had been cleaning the heater and removed the unit from the all when they noticed a gas odor. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Peachtree Street. It was activated by burning food.
• Firefighters installed a smoke detector on Ashby Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to Hosanna Circle to a report of a chirping smoke detector. The homeowner advised she needed new batteries for the detector. They told her they had no batteries with them but would personally come by the residence the following day to replace the batteries.
• Firefighters responded to Lexington Apartments, 1130 Felder St., to a report of a structure fire. Investigation revealed electrical wiring malfunction on the rear of the stove and the stove had been unplugged and pulled away from the wall by the occupant. They advised leaving the stove out of service until management was contacted.

• Renita L. Woods, 49, of 104-B Country Club Drive, Americus; theft by shoplifting, two counts of obstruction of law enforcement officers, and two counts of terroristic threats and acts; jailed. (4-14-19)
