Number of COVID-19 cases in Sumter County has risen to 355 with 21 deaths

AMERICUS – As of 11:28 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, the Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH) reports that the number of confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in Sumter County has climbed up to 355, with one additional fatality. Since the GDPH reported on Tuesday, April 21, that the total number of cases in the county stood at 334 with 20 deaths, an additional 21 people have tested positive for the disease and another person has died as a result of it.

According to the GDPH, Sumter County ranks 11th in Georgia for the most amount of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Lee County currently has 300 cases with 18 fatalities. Schley County currently has 16 confirmed cases with one fatality and Dooly County currently has 112 confirmed cases with seven deaths. Dougherty County ranks third in the state with 1,469 confirmed cases, but has seen the most fatalities of any Georgia county with 108.
