AMERICUS — Sherrill Fore of Americus received the 2015 Georgia Para-Professional Caregiver of the Year Award at the 28th annual Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving’s National Summit Gala on Friday, Oct. 23. Fore was nominated by the West Central Georgia CARE-NET.
For the past year, Fore has served as a personal care aide at Innovative Senior Solutions (ISS) in Americus. Though only with the company for a short time, Fore has excelled in her duties. She was nominated for employee ISS Superstar five times since the program started a year ago and was promoted to the position of team lead because she has shown the qualities of dependability and leadership in her work.
“During her time with ISS, Sherrill has become a client favorite. She has the ability to go into any home and become part of their family,” said Jessica Wright of ISS in a nomination letter for Fore. “Her compassionate and caring nature provides her the quality and skill to draw people to her in a way that many are unable to do.”
Gayle Alston, RCI director of community initiatives and Caregiver Support Center, introduced Fore during the Gala. Alston commented on Fore’s excellent caregiving abilities and the compassion she shows for her clients.
“She has a sensitivity that instinctually tells her when her clients are in need. She models best practices in care for the family caregivers so they become more comfortable in their duties,” Alston said. “I guess the best way to sum up this special lady is to say, she walks into the chaos of care and becomes family to those she serves.”
